Thanks for the exciting news, Mr. Carroll! I am sure that this FSM CD will be the definitive version of KINGS ROW with the best possible sound and a "must have". The KINGS ROW bootleg has been around for about 3 or 4 years on a strange label called "Collector to Collector". I suppose that this is so...

Re: KINGS ROW

Well I can confirm that I completed 13,000 words for the booklet and the CD master was definitely finished. So it must be due soon...! A Golden Age double CD is coming from FSM in mid-October. Could this be KINGS ROW? Will the KINGS ROW score be any longer than the 85 minutes of the already exisiti...

Re: Purchasing this CD

You can order the Korngold Tsunami releases at the German retailer shop Cinema Soundtrack Club: http://www.soundtrack-club.net/# JUAREZ/PRINCE AND THE PAUPER is available there at a price of 19,99 Euro which should be about $28. If it is too complicated for you and you dont want to order there, just...

Many thanks for this wonderful confirmation!
Does this mean that we will see more Korngold CD releases from FSM in the near future and maybe even CAPTAIN BLOOD?

Kings Row on FSM?

Jessica Duchen has written the following info on her blog: "Here's one of our regular Korngold updates for this year, the 50th anniversary of the composer's death. My prolific thanks to Korngold devotee and biographer Brendan G Carroll for keeping up the flow of info! In March, the complete film sco...

As nobody here has mentioned this new release, I want to recommend it very much to you all. The sound is much better on this CD than on the previous Korngold CDs from Tsunami, because the high frequencies have not been removed and there are also not these grumblings in the basses which may have anno...

Hello, the book about synchronisation was published by Peter Lang Verlag in Frankfurt. I think it is probably out of print, but you can find a copy for example on the Abebooks site at the price of 15 Euro: www.abebooks.de As I said before, I am again and again astonished that people here in Germany ...

Re: Korngold

Hello,

thanks very much for the reference. But could it not be that the Korngold archive in Hamburg does also have this tape recording and would perhaps make a copy of it for private purposes? Or won't they copy something like this? Does anyone know?

Re: Korngold

I also have the ROBIN HOOD DVD and so of course know that we can hear Korngold's voice for just a few seconds in this last piano track where he plays ANTHONY ADVERSE. Also in most of the others he is humming along. But the excerpts are so short and you also always notice the sudden cuts which have b...

Birthday Party

Perhaps Mr. Carroll can answer my question: Is there any opportunity to listen to this famous birthday party at Ray Heindorf's, which to my knowledege took place in 1951, in its complete form? Is there any cassette copy or even CD(R) which one can buy to hear it and above all to hear Korngold himsel...

Hi Peter, I myself think that Korngold's reputation has heavily increased in Germany throughout the last 10 or 15 years. And probably not because of his films, but because of his concert works and operas which have been re-evaluated. Probably also the many CDs which have been released with his works...

Peter, I have to tell you another story about these German dubbings of the Korngold films which is just the peak of perversity. Even well-trained academic music scholars have fallen prey to these dubbings and didn't notice it that the original Korngold music has been replaced. There is an academic, ...

Hi Peter, well you will see and hear that the damage on these corrupted versions of ELIZABETH AND ESSEX and CAPTAIN BLOOD is considerable. Unfortunately, I myself have often made the experience in all the last 25 years or so that most people here in Germany - even those very much interested in film ...

Hello,

yes it is absolutely the same version as on the CD with that great Viennese voice of Anton Dermota, who makes this aria so enchanting.

Hello Peter, several DVDs of the Errol Flynn films scored by Korngold have now been released in Germany last month. I know that THE PRIVATE LIVES OF ELIZABETH AND ESSEX, THE SEA HAWK and CAPTAIN BLOOD are now available as DVDs here in Germany. ROBIN HOOD is already available for almost two years. Of...
