Korngold: autographed music quotations
Hello all,
This 1933 autograph recently appeared on eBay:
Would anyone care to identify or comment upon the musical quotations Korngold chose? Is there a thread common to all four of them?
Many thanks,
Dennis

Re: Archival Recordings on CD from Cambria and MGM
About three years ago the Korngold Foundation's experimental web site announced a series of new releases. This included the Autumn, 2002, issue on Cambria of a 3 CD set of rare and archival recordings featuring Korngold as pianist and conductor compiled from studio acetates, home recordings, shella...

Greetings! Here is what appears to be another reissue of recordings that have appeared on the ASV label. http://www.prestoclassical.co.uk/r/Regis/RRC1290 I have a couple of questions, please. (1) All of the ASV discs are still available for sale and easy to find. How is possible that this Regis CD a...

Hello..
Are the Flesch Quartet recordings of Opp. 10, 16, 26 and 34 on the Brilliant Classics label the same recordings that are on the ASV label?
Thanks,

CD: Opus 9 "Einfache Lieder"
Thank you.
The Henschel CD places the first three songs of Op. 9 into the discarded Op. 5 collection of 12 songs, seperating them from the other three songs.
The Kimbrough CD combines all six songs under the single opus number 9.

Elizabeth Hurley & Carol Neblett
That's amazing. Hurley almost looks like Carol Neblett in the part. The casting of Peter Birch as Paul seems a little odd since he (sadly) doesn't have that much appeal. When he was stripped to the waist in the love scene I laughed. Only the music saved the moment. In 1973 Neblett did a brief nude s...

Magic Fire
Thanks for this heads up! I ordered two copies: one for myself and one to sell on eBay when the CD goes out of print! I transfered the vinyl to mini-disc years ago with fine results, but it will still be nice to have this reissue on CD if it has been properly remastered. For those of you that would ...

"ARIA" DVD with 'Lute Song'
I was suprised to find on television the other day a short film of Korngold's "Lute Song" directed by Bruce Beresford featuring the voices of Rene Kollo and Carol Neblett. It is from a movie called "Aria." I will quote this description from the Muze data base: "Producer Don Boyd brought together 10 ...

Here is the spin from the magazine's website
Here is the spin from the magazine's website: "Composer of the Month: Erich Korngold He was the father of the Hollywood movie score with his lush, sweeping melodies and heart-stopping harmonies, but ex-child prodigy Erich Wolfgang Korngold’s music fell out of fashion and he was almost forgotten. B...

Purchasing this CD
I am a bit slow on the uptake and now I find that amazon.de no longer has the Tsunami "Juarez/Prince" in stock. Following the links on the First Floor website it looks like jpc.de and fennmusic may be the only alternatives to jump this soundtrack across the pond to my home in California. I have yet ...
