Korngold + Rozsa on BBC Radio 3

Saw this posted at the Rozsa forums: Recently read the confirmation that Rozsa - along with Korngold - will be the featured Composers of the Week, in a series of five programmes from Monday 26th Nov-Friday 30th Nov. Each is at 12 noon (UK time) and repeated at 8.45 pm the same day, on BBC Radio 3. N...

Last Prodigy

I was able to get a copy of the book through INTER LIBRARY LOAN at my college....I will read during Thanksgiving break. :D

Nice to know I don't have to pay $125 to read the bio :D

I do not know if the planned complete CD release will take a dubbing from the filmtrack and splice it in or not. We'll have to wait and see.
The original tracks are coming?

Hello tjguitar, It is not the Warner Orchestra playing on this recording but the "Graunke Symphony Orchestra" of Munich, which today has changed its name in "Munich Symphony Orchestra" . Interesting. The booklet credits the Warner Bro Studio Orchestra. I wonder why? Regardless, Thanks for the info/...

Lionel Newman's Film Music of Korngold

I have just acquired this CD used from amazon.com on the Stanyan Records label. Recorded way back in 1961 by Lionel Newman & the Warner Bros Studio Orchestra. At the bottom of the front of the booklet it states: "*Editor's Note: This is the first authorized recording by the Korngold Estate. Recordin...

As far as I know, Membran simply copies CDs from other companies: these include FSM, Prometheus and Tsunami. So, musicwise, they are identical. Hmm. Well I see a few Membrans of tsunami's for good prices on amazon.com: Sea Hawk, Captain blood, Robin Hood, Elizabeth & Essex, Constant Nymph No Membra...

I also wonder how possible/marketable a newly recorded Kings Row would be with the original tracks coming soon from FSM?

Mine came the other day, and it's a fun CD. I especially liked the Waxman and Gould pieces which I had never heard (of) before.

Re: Compilations

Well everyone, clearly I am always being misunderstood! Of course I have no objections to compilation albums, and yes I know the Gerhardt series started it all. If you read the introduction to my book, you will see that it was the RCA SEA HAWK which started by 35 year passion for Korngold. What I m...

Sea Hawk & Captain Blood on latest Cincinnati Pops CD

I'm sure this will be nothing more than a guilty pleasure for some here and possibly even frowned upon by others, but its nice to see Korngold represented on a "mainstream" "Pops" release which will no doubt sell very well due to the heavy Pirates of the caribbean representation. Hopefully something...
