I do remember you

Hi Bob Yes I recall our chat with much pleasure - I rarely forget anything. I always wondered whatever became of you. Too bad about your thesis. Well, I hope you will feel moved to make use of your materials. Why not write something for this website? I am sure the Editors would appreciate a consider...

I can only help with a couple:

The String Quartets were recorded by the Chilingiririan in London in August 1977

The FACET ROBIN HOOD is from the live radio broadcast on May 11 1938 (as noted in my book)

A colleague in Germany may have the rest, and I will ask. Why is it so important?

Jeritza

Her archive was auctioned after her death and scattered accross the globe. There is no Jeritza society as far as I know, though an exhibition is supposedly being planned in Brno where she was born. If it occurs, I'll post details here, in advance. Otherwise there is no central source, sorry.

The opera has only been staged twice since 1930, and there has been one concert performance (In Amsterdam). F...

I regret I am not a copyright expert & have no idea of the rights situation for music or films. You might write to the Turner Organisation and to the publishers Schott, Universal Edition, Weinberger & Warner Bros. If you get any response...share it with the Forum!

Suite Op23

I regret there is no published thesis on this work but there are several scholarly works on Paul Wittgenstein (see the bibliography in my book for sources), for whom it was composed. The autograph Mss is in the New York Public Library and I myself have written a brief analysis for several recordings...

Korngold's PUBLISHERS - Where to Get His Music

Because so many people repeatedly ask who publishes Korngold's various works, I thought it might be helpful to provide a List:- OPERAS & CONCERT WORKS (All Main Works) Schott Musik International, Mainz, Germany with the exception of: DER SCHNEEMANN PIANO TRIO Opus 1 Piano Sonata No 1 which are publ...

KINGS ROW is only available as a short Suite from WARNER CHAPPELL. The full score is not published, and none of the Korngold film scores are published complete.

Between Two Worlds

The only way of acquiring this music is to request a copy from the Warner Brothers Archives @ the University of Southern California, Los Angeles (UCLA). However, I doubt they will make a copy for you as they usually insist on copyright clearance and that you visit in person.

Sorry!

Sea Hawk

Well Jimmy  Warner-Chappell have a London office (not sure where as they moved) and they should be able to advise where to write. I believe this piano reduction was published circa 1995 but in the US only & included a number of other Korngold pieces from his film music. If they are unhelpful, ...

Korngold's grave

The musical quotation on Korngold's grave is the opening bars of the Mariettalied from the opera Die tote Stadt, which his wife considered the most appropriate - as it was his most famous work.
