Hello readers,
I have a question about the running time of the Spain-released DVD of "Anthony Adverse" which I haven't yet purchased.
My VHS tape of "Anthony Adverse" (MGM/UA Home Video, 1992) says that the running time is 138 minutes. However, the only amazon.co.uk review says that the running time for the Spanish DVD is 119 minutes. That would be a pity, of course, if it is true.
Can anyone verify this shortfall, please, and elaborate as to where the cuts in the film may be?
Here is a picture of the release on amazon:

Re: "Anthony Adverse" DVD
Dear Dennis
Anthony Adverse was cut by 20 minutes or so for its 1956 reissue and I think this Spanish release may derive from this version. I have never seen the cut print and have no idea which scenes were removed. Similar cuts were made to Sea Hawk for its 1947 reissue and Captain Blood in 1951. I will wait until the Warner Archive label releases Adverse (which I am told will be later in 2013) as it will undoubtedly be complete.
