Korngold interview

Fascinating interview which I hadn't seen before. It's intriguing that 'foxtrots' seems to have been the prevailing denigratory phrase for what composers shouldn't do! Miklos Rozsa also nearly passed up on a great film career because he wasn't 'interested in writing foxtrots'.

Korngold isn't here rubbishing film-music, nor is he implying that it has no value ... on the CONTRARY he is warning that a film score CAN contain a composer's BEST material ... but perhaps wasted. As time dissolves less significant prejudices and nuances that distinction will someday disappear.
