Symphonic Serenade op.39

Post by Tsuruhara » Mon Oct 15, 2007 6:34 am

Hello ! I am a new member living in japan. :D

I got CD of Erich Wolfgang Korngold's Orchestral Works 1-4 conducted by Werner Andreas Alberts.
In Symphonic SerenadeOp.39, the 1st theme is performed with the solo violin.
It is performed by the 1st violin section in other CDs.
Which is right? Aren't someone known about it? I think that "Tranquillo" does not mean "Solo." :?:

This theme should be played by the entire 1st violins. Mr Albert's recording is to be avoided...

I just realised that we in fact met at the Symposium in Bern!
So, friendly greetings once more. I suggest you try & get the BBC Philharmonic recording of OPUS 39 on CHANDOS (try www.amazom.com or the Japanese version). It is very good indeed.
