Canadian Premiere of Die stumme Serenade - November 2013

Students from The Glenn Gould School at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto will present the Canadian premiere of Korngold’s only operetta - and in the original 1946 English version, which has never been performed before!

The musical comedy "Die stumme Serenade" (The Silent Serenade) is based on a story by Raoul Auernheimer with a libretto by Los Angeles based Jewish exiles Bert Reisfeld and Viktor Clement.

The story is set in late 18th century Naples, and focuses on the love of a famous fashion designer for his equally famous actress client and the many unlikely events that lead to them eventually being able to share their love.

Full of terrific tunes and Korngoldian joie de vivre, it is well worth catching if you happen to be in Toronto in November.

Peter Tiefenbach serves as Music Director.

Premiere: November 13 2013
