|
|
Hi all, I'm writing a dissertation in Berlin about (among other operas) Violanta. I've read that Hans Mueller 1915 proposed to Erich two librettos with Renaissance-subject, the one was about Savonarola and the other was Violanta.
I would like to know if the Savonarola-libretto were somewhere to find, as it would be of great interest for my research.
Thank you for the help!!

Regarding Mueller's SavOnarola (please note correct spelling)...
I regret no copy of this survives in Korngold's estate and Mueller had no surviving relatives, so his nachlasse was sold and dispersed in 1951 after his death. It is very sad as I am sure there were many documents, letters and photos that would have been very interesting. These must now either be destroyed or in private collections.
However there are lots of details about the subject of this rejected libretto on the internet.
Good luck! |
