A great night at @E_N_O witnessing my first live performance of #Korngold’s #dietotestadt - The Dead City. A clever production, with unexpected suprises, engaging performances and melodies & orchestration that really do move you to tears, it really is a must see! 👏🏻 🎶

We disagree about #Korngold overall but not about the shortcomings of this production. The most astute review I've seen so far, and without the repetitive boilerplate that plagues so many English mainstream critics when the subject is Korngold.

THE DEAD CITY @E_N_O - Strong dream world, weak love story: taxing lead roles are bravely taken, but #Korngold's life-over-death dynamic doesn't quite work, says @DavidPNice https://theartsdesk.com/opera/dead-city-english-national-opera-review-strong-dream-world-weak-love-story
